How to build a night light map in QGIS ? Also called artistic skybrightness or light pollution map
In a simple way, night light data can be added to QGIS. There are three main contents:
1. Use WMTs or xyztiles to load online maps and display them with existing third-party data.
2. The data source uses ArcGIS's artistic skybrightness online service. There are two service addresses, and the links corresponding to the two services are:
WMTS: https://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/b3fMqPOmotX6SV4k/arcgis/rest/services/ArtificialSkyBrightness/MapServer/WMTS
XYZtiles: https://tiles.arcgis.com/tiles/b3fMqPOmotX6SV4k/arcgis/rest/services/ArtificialSkyBrightness/MapServer/tile/{z}/{y}/{x}
Just add this service in WMTs or xyztiles on the left, as shown in the figure below:

3. We also need a base map. It is recommended to use the hcmgis plug-in of QGIS and the carto dark map inside. In this way, a transparent light map is superimposed on the black map, and the effect is very good.
The effect after adding is shown in the figure below:
